Insurance Authority warns against suspicious Facebook account and fraudulent website

The Insurance Authority (IA) today (18 July 2024) wishes to alert members of the public to a Facebook account operating under the name “Congratulation Winner” and a fraudulent website with the domain name of “https[:]//chubb-life-hong-kong-ixegvh[.]myfreesites[.]net/”. The aforesaid Facebook account has been sending out fabricated winning notifications to campaign participants and asking them to visit the fraudulent website that purports to be the official website of an authorized insurer of Hong Kong, Chubb Life Insurance Hong Kong Limited (Chubb Life Hong Kong), with the intention of deceitfully obtaining sensitive personal information. Chubb Life Hong Kong has confirmed that it has no connection with the aforesaid Facebook account and the fraudulent website.

The case has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation. Anyone who has provided personal information through the aforesaid link should contact Chubb Life Hong Kong at (852) 2894-9833 or via email Enquiry.HKLife@chubb.com, and report the case to the Hong Kong Police Force.
